Separate what fits now from what will fit later.
Start with the real routine
Keep one active drawer or basket for the clothes you reach for every day. Store the next size up in a labeled bin, and move outgrown pieces out quickly instead of letting them stay in rotation. This makes mornings faster and avoids guessing when a baby is already fussing.
Keep the system safe and simple
Simple labels are enough: current, next, and later. If clothing arrives as gifts or hand-me-downs, sort it before it enters the nursery. Otherwise the drawer slowly becomes a search project.
Make it easy to reset
Review sizes every two weeks during the first months. Babies change quickly, and the system works best when it changes before the drawer is overfilled.
